RIASSUNTO
In questa revisione esaminiamo i meccanismi d’azione e le evidenze a sostegno dell’utilizzo dei lisati batterici orali nei pazienti con wheezing prescolare, in considerazione della mancanza di efficacia delle attuali strategie terapeutiche nei pazienti non caratterizzati da un’infiammazione eosinofilica. Proponiamo un possibile approccio terapeutico differenziato, in base alla fenotipizzazione dei pazienti.

ABSTRACT – Preschool wheezing: new therapeutic strategies and the role of bacterial lysate
In this review we summarise the mechanisms of action and the evidence sustaining the use of oral bacterial lysate in children with preschool wheezing, since the present therapeutic strategies are often not effective in patients with non-eosinophilic inflammation. We also propose a differential therapeutic approach, based on the phenotype of the patient.
